Match Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City

Shipping four defeats in five Premier League matches, including the most recent, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer proves to be another disappointment for Cardiff City. The side are still stuck in the drop zone, barely lifting themselves above the table’s foot. They are just one point clear of the abyss but they are certainly in huge risk of bidding adieu this season by the end of the tournament.

In their latest fixture, The Bluebirds were trounced by a club who also switched managerial wardrobe. Garry Monk’s audition as Swansea’s new coach has proven effective with a victory they obtained from Cardiff City during a hyperactive Wales derby. The team scored all goals in the match, including the opener by Wayne Routledge, a follow up by Nathan Dyer, and a winner by Wilfried Bony. Kenwyne Jones wasted a couple of first-half chances for Cardiff, while Craig Bellamy seemed distraught upon the crossbar.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s last five matches yielded mixed results, but mostly defeats. They won against West Bromwich 2-1 and drawn with Liverpool 2-2, but succumbed to other clubs like Arsenal 1-2, Everton 2-1, and most recently, West Ham United. The rankings indicate The Villans to be in the top dozen, four points adrift of the relegation zone but are dire need of more than 20 points to barge into the table’s uppermost quarter.

Aston Villa’s defeat from West Ham was preceded by issues surrounding the latter. The build-up to the trip to Villa Park was largely eclipsed by attempts to save Carroll from a three-match ban following his clash with Chico Flores. Having had to face rivals without Carroll’s imposing presence put West Ham boss Sam Allardyce to distress. However, with Aston Villa showing mediocre runs at home, he thought the match would be manageable. And indeed it was, as Nolan made it four goals in two matches as another double was enough to pull down luckless Villa 0-2.

Football betting tip: With their latest matches ending in defeats, Both Cardiff City and Aston Villa would be more than eager to obtain all the spoils in their impending face-off. Expect this clash to be flooded with plenty of chances, with the final tally eventually unveiling a stalemate.
