Premier League Match Preview: Arsenal vs. Fulham

Updated: January 15, 2014

Match Date: 18 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Emirates Stadium

The sprightly goals from Jack Wilshere and Olivier Giroud sent Arsenal back to the league’s highest spot with a 2-1 win at Aston Villa. This puts them a point ahead of their current closest rivals, Manchester City who have actually garnered a much higher goal difference. The victory would be the side’s 15th this season (out of 21 fixtures) and a massive addition to their already-strong form. The Gunners are also equally stellar in other tournaments, such as in the FA Cup where they picked up a clean from Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.

Arsenal are generally very strong in any match arrangement, although they are just exceptionally outstanding when playing in their own stadium. This can be seen more obviously in their home record, wherein only one fixture (this season) ended in an upset while the rest of the matches have all gone to be substantial sources of points.

Although they are now two places adrift of the relegation zone, Fulham have yet to move mountains in order to fully free themselves from any danger. They may have been very aggressive during the FA Cup (winning over Norwich City 3-0) but they remain highly vulnerable in the English top-flight league. Of their last five matches, only two finished in victory while the remaining others all resulted in dreadful defeats. For their away record, the scores are not telling a comforting story either. About half of their defeats this season were all obtained from their battles on the road.

Football betting tip: This fixture between Arsenal and Fulham could yield an obvious result. The home side are apparently more in-form and have the greater capability to earn all the points than their visitors.
