English Premier League Team Review: West Ham United

Updated: July 17, 2014
West Ham United- Enner Valencia

Finishing on the 13th spot was a far-flung shot from what West Ham has accomplished during the 2012-2013 season. Immediately upon securing its Premier League status, the squad featured and made it to the elite 10. Thus, to fall three (3) notches is quite unacceptable and at best, highly disappointing.

Match to remember

West Ham’s rivalry against Tottenham Hotspur is never a secret in the top-flight league. To secure two (2) victories over Tottenham in all of their EPL matches last season adds merit to West Ham’s credentials. Unfortunately, Tottenham, the Irons did not only outlast them twice, but thrice. The latter also had the edge over them in their Capital One Cup encounter.

Match to forget

Suffering defeat to the minnow, Fulham during the onset of the season’s second half is one of the worse performances of the club considering that they were the online betting favorite at that time.

The scene-stealers

It does not take a genius to understand why Mark Noble bagged the “Hammer of the Year” award.  The midfielder has been the club’s pillar of strength. Despite West Ham’s lackluster performances, Noble continued to be the squad’s Mr. 100% that without him, the Irons could have landed at a much lower spot.

Latest additions

World Cup stunner, Enner Valencia will be joining Sam Allardyce’s rank soon. Fondly called as “Superman,” he is one of the heroes that West Ham followers expect to shine in the new season.

Valencia’s signing is said to amount to £12M.
