English Premier League Team Review: Aston Villa

Recap
Aston Villa hardly made a strong finish last season. Stuck at the 15th spot, the squad merely repeated what it has achieved during the 2012-2013 season. What is even more disappointing is that struggling clubs such as Crystal Palace and Sunderland bagged an even higher rank.
Winning ten (10) out of its thirty-eight (38) matches, its accomplishment was barely enough to garner plaudits and recognition. They remained on the verge of falling out and hopefully, they will not continue to tread on the same path.
Match to remember
Aston Villa was a stunner when it pulled off a controversial win against Arsenal during the season opening. Although marred by doubts and criticisms, it gave hope to the squad. Unfortunately, the squad was unable to sustain its momentum and consecutive losses immediately followed.
Match to forget
Experiencing a clean sheet from Tottenham and looking helplessly against its four (4) massive goals will definitely fall into the Aston Villa’s list of worst matches.
The scene-stealers
Fabian Delph’s name stands out as one of the most improved players of the squad. His midfield exploits made him a central figure in the club.
Christian Benteke is also one of the players that should be honored here. Benteke contributed ten (10) goals during its twenty-seven (27 ) appearances.
Latest additions
The versatile Kieran Richardson is one of Aston Villa’s major signings this season. Richardson’s experience, most especially in the international scene is expected to add into the squad’s continuous development.
