Manchester City are hesitant to easily surrender the Premier League title. The defending champions have so far produced a perfect six points from their first two matches in the new season, having won against Newcastle United in their debut and then against Liverpool in their subsequent match. While Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are currently ahead of them in terms of goal difference, The Citizens still have a lot of opportunities to claim back the table’s summit especially that the season has just started. Stoke City, meanwhile, only secured one point from their first few fixtures in the competition. They opened their campaign with an embarrassing home loss to Aston Villa 0-1 and followed it up with a 1-1 draw against Hull City.

Football betting tip: Manchester City will add another three points to their score by trouncing Stoke City at the Etihad.

West Ham United vs. Southampton

Match Date: 30 August 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Boleyn Ground

With three points under their belt, West Ham United made it to the top half of the league table by the second of week of Premier League fixtures. Seven sides rank higher than them but 12 others failed to get past their position. In their opening match, they were beaten at home by Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 but in their second battle, they managed to successfully steal all the spoils from Crystal Palace in an away tourney 1-3. As for Southampton, the season has so far been quite difficult for them. They have yet to secure a victory for their campaign as they spent their first two appearances in the tournament rather unattractively: a downfall from Liverpool 2-1 and goalless draw with West Brom. They need to see drastic improvements in their defense (particularly against through ball attacks) for them to make a good turnaround of their early goal deficits.

Football betting tip: West Ham United will dominate in this battle, but Southampton could make that achievement a little hard-earned.
