The last six meeting between these sides produced equal number of wins for both Valencia and Espanyol, with each of them winning twice and drawing also twice. In terms of goals scored, however, Espanyol have found the net more frequently.

Valencia

Scoring four goals and conceding just one in their first two La Liga matches for the new season, Valencia rank very high in the current league rankings. They kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Sevilla, in the battle that saw Lucas Orban equalize Aleix Vidal’s opener. Last week, they performed even better as they successfully put Malaga at bay while they converted scoring chances three times. Paco Alcacer struck an opener in the 31st minute before Dani Parejo double the lead by the end of the first period. Pablo Piatti sealed the scoring with a second-half effort assisted by Alcacer. Los Che are now ranked second in the team standings, just two points behind leaders Barcelona.

Espanyol

The Periquitos are winless in two La Liga fixtures, putting them in danger of falling into the relegation zone. Ranked at number 16, the side have only managed to earn one point from the past two weeks of top-flight competition. They held Almeria 1-1 during their debut but lost all the points to Sevilla in their subsequent match. On both occasions, however, they narrowly avoided being rendered goalless. Sergio Garcia and Christian Stuani both found ways to prevent Espanyol from having an empty score sheet.

Football betting tip: Valencia will seize all the marbles from Espanyol.
