Match Date: 30 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Cornellà – El Prat

While they may currently sit on the league’s top eight, Espanyol are yet to find better ways to project what they are truly capable of. Inconsistency is presently a dilemma, and it is clearly not doing the club any favor. The Periquitos won five fixtures this term (so far), forced a draw in three, and scored zero in six.

Javier Aguirre’s side are a relatively strong team to beat at home this season, proven by their ability to pick up some great results at various turfs (though not all). Their 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid was of particular note. In their most recent battle, playing as visitors this time, Espanyol also showed some improvements on the road. In fact, improvement is an understatement; the side conquered Rayo Vallecano in a rousing 1-4 triumph in Madrid. The team are gradually turning their form around and may soon find themselves in hairline distance from the league’s higher clubs.

Real Sociedad

Generally, Real Sociedad have done a great job in their last six matches. They all finished in good scores but one, when they met with Real Madrid and suffered a 5-1 away defeat. They are currently ranked at number six, a placement comfortable enough to keep their La Liga run stable. They have already accumulated 20 points from five wins and five stalemates.

Real Sociedad’s most recent battle (against Celta) almost gave them certainty at losing, after posting a 1-3 inferiority by the 57th minute. However, Carlos Vela—who scored the opening for his team—smashed three more goals to turn the tides into their favor. The seven-goal thriller could be among this season’s most interesting, and Vela will surely catapult resounding plaudits for the feat he just accomplished.

Football betting tip: Real Sociedad’s latest rallies invigorated the form that they were initially struggling to improve, while Espanyol are working hard to keep things under their control. This tourney should result in a heavyweight encounter, and both sides will absolutely put their best foot forward to win the war over. Either sides could end up victorious, but a draw is the most believable result to mark this encounter’s finish line.
