The last meeting between Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad produced a draw with goals totaling tom four, but an earlier battle posted a 4-3 result in favor of the Basque side.

Celta de Vigo

Celta debuted in the new season with a rousing victory against Getafe. The side obtrained three goals—converted by Nolito, Orellana, and Larrivey—and conceded just one. In their most recent La Liga battle, however, sharing the spoils with their opponents occurred inevitable. Orellana put his side in front in the 52nd minute but Cordoba’s Cartabia found the net eight minutes later, equalizing Os Celticos’ opener. With these results, the squad have earned a total of four points, so far, which places them in the third spot of the rankings—behind Valencia and Barcelona.

Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad’s opening performance was below par with 15 other squads as they lost points to Eibar following a 1-0 display. They ranked 16th at the kick-off of the new top-flight season. This however, was successfully turned around in their subsequent match which saw Jagoba Arrasate’s men winning against Real Madrid with four goals scored and only two goals conceded. It was one of the most memorable upsets of the tournament, so far, and the points obtained from that triumph significantly helped Txuriurdin climb up in the ladder. They are now ranked eighth in the league table.
