La Liga Match Preview: Celta de Vigo vs. Almeria

Updated: November 25, 2013

Match Date: 30 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Estadio Balaídos

Celta de Vigo

Celta have been in the danger zone this season once, and with their last two matches ending in sour defeats, a return to the bottom zone is possible. Currently ranked at number 16, Os Celticos are apparently having trouble with their form. The struggle for results is mounting, and the fact that they were held in a zero-goal defeat by Rayo (as well as being narrowly beaten by Real Sociedad) means that they cannot afford to remain idle and instead, should work truly hard to obtain the silverware.

In spite of his men’s shortcomings at home, coach Luis Enrique is firm to not alter his squad that much. Their wins were all reaped on the road, but the players are positive that their upcoming home match would finally give them optimistic results.

Even with the over-the-top 5-4-1 defense he set up for his team against Real Madrid, Francisco Rodríguez was still not able to prevent their rivals from finding the net. Worse, they did it five times. The 0-5 home loss exacerbated Almeria’s already uninspiring run in the season, when staying in the relegation zone is the only tangible reason they had (and having) to keep fighting for their life in Spanish top-flight league.

Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, and Morata were just too huge to be brought down by Almeria’s best players. Even Rodri, the very reason for the club’s clean sheets in the two matches prior to their joist with Real Madrid, was not able to show impression. Current tally shows the side to have accumulated 12 points from three victories and three draws.

Football betting tip: With the teams’ form, capacities, and weaknesses manifesting almost identical grades, a draw from this tourney should be expected. Almeria could be slimly defeated by their opponents, but Celta have injury problems—Oubina and Llorca—that could otherwise spoil that opportunity.
