Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao are both top half occupants as of the current league standings, with the former seated atop the rankings and the latter just outside the UEFA spots.

Barcelona

The only team to finish their first two La Liga matches with soaring results, Barca successfully held on to the top of the table in two consecutive weeks. They also have the best goal difference so far, with four, and the only side in the competition to not concede a goal. They opened their campaign with a clean sheet victory against Elche, with a brace coming from talisman Leo Messi and a goal from Munir. In their most recent fixture, Barcelona again pulled off a clean clean but with fewer goals this time. Sandro Ramirez’ second-half goal broke the deadlock that dominated the majority of the meeting. The decisive goal gave Luis Enrique’s men six points in just two matches. Barcelona are clearly making their presence known and might actually regain the championship after they failed to defend their title last season.

Athletic Bilbao

Athletic bilbao successfully turned their goal deficit around after earning a three-goal lead against Levante from their most recent top-flight appearance. The side debuted in the season with a home defeat from Malaga 1-0 but goals from Aduriz, Iturraspe, and Muniain helped them post back a positive goal difference as of the competition’s second week. They are currently ranked seventh in a list of 20, with three points crowning their form. They are excellent in the air and in creating chances using through balls, but they would need more improvements in their discipline as they often go offside and commit individual errors.

Online betting tip: Barcelona will make it three wins in a row at the expense of Athletic Bilbao.
