Fiorentina spent their ninth straight season in Serie A with a spectacle capped by a magnificent showpiece and popularity in sports besting sites. They finished 4th overall but this level of success is way more than just obtaining a berth in the Europa League group stage. They had memorable matches in the league, including victories against former champions Milan and Napoli as well as defending winners Juventus. They were also runners up in the Coppa Italia and reached the Round of 16 in the UEFA Cup.

Viola had 13 new signings during the summer transfer window, of which Mario Gomez was their most expensive acquisition who was bought with a fee amounting to €20 million. Other known million-euro signings were Josip Ilicic (€9M) and Joaquin (€2M) and. Meanwhile, eight players transferred to other clubs. They included Stevan Jovetic who was sold to Manchester City for staggering fee of €30 million and Adem Ljajic who was acquired by Roma €10 million.

Vincenzo Montella’s men had a great start last season. They were unbeaten in their first four matches, attaining successes over Catania, Genoa, and Atalanta as well as holding Cagliari in a draw. They incurred their first defeat on week five when they battled out against Inter and lost away 2-1.By the end of 2013, the side achieved 10 triumphs (including a 4-2 home trashing at Juventus), three stalemates, and only four downfalls. By the end of the season, they recorded a score sheet comprising W19-D8-L11.

Throughout the season, Fiorentina never fell below the top six of the league table. They were very consistent and spent 25 non-consecutive weeks on the same rank. Individually, they produced one of the 10 most productive players of the tournament. Guiseppe Rossi was Viola’s top scorer (16 goals) and the season’s seventh (alongside Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi and Jeve’s Fernando Llorente) best outfield player overall.
