Hellas Verona

Recap

Hellas Verona was not spared of speculations that it will eventually return to Serie B after its celebrated promotion. Critics used adjustment issues and team depth as bases of the newly-promoted squad’s inability to survive the top-flight league. But those criticisms barely affected the Gialloblu’s performance. The squad even used them as motivation to do the impossible.

Survival was the common dilemma that newly-promoted clubs face. Yet, for Hellas Verona, it was achieving greater success. The squad finished as the 10th best club in Serie A. It was something unexpected considering the fact that they had to go against some of Italy’s football powerhouses. But they did it. And this coming season, one can only expect new surprises from this promising squad.

Match to remember

Verona’s first victory in their first Serie A match served as a premonition of the greatness that they are about to show to the world. Pitted against the online betting favorite, AC Milan, the Gialloblu immediately stole the limelight when they secured a 2-1 victory.

Match to forget

At one point or another, each club suffers a dismal thrashing and Hellas Verona is not exempt from it. During the last leg of the season, it lost to Sampdoria. The latter scored five (5) heartbreaking goals and kept a clean sheet against them.

The scene-stealers

Amassing twenty (20) points during the season, Luca Toni is the poacher that did not only help Hellas Verona survive, but also, propelled the squad into Serie A’s elite.

Latest additions

Former Aston Villa left-back, Antonio Luna will be joining the Hellas Verona squad soon. Luna has recently arrived in Italy to complete his medical test.
