Genoa - Week 9 Review

Week highlights

Defending champion, Juventus is currently under threat as its fiercest rival, AS Roma levels in the title race.

A mixture of anger and disappointment looms over Juve’s camp after having a taste of its first defeat this season. The club dominated the entire encounter and took advantage of their scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, a more clinical Genoa spoiled Juve’s early celebration. An assist from Alessandro Matri and a proficient Luca Antonini stole the show during the last minute of the match.

Rudi Garcia, the head honcho of the capital club, was of course, satisfied with the result of Juventus’ recent clash. His squad snatched a well-deserved 2-0 win against Cesena and with his rival’s fall down, Roma and Juventus now have twenty-two (22) points each.

Roma succeeded in increasing the pressure, Juventus failed to keep its momentum.

But among the list of  possible title contenders this season, Napoli is the only one, which has been silent for a while. After a massive 6-0 victory against Verona, the squad was forced to settle for an even steven finish against Atalanta. Thus, it got stuck in the 7th spot of the table instead of penetrating the top five (5).
