Roma extended their unbeaten run to six matches after they sent off Cagliari on a 1-3 finish. The side only needed Mattia Destro to seal the winner, delivering a hat-trick that was nearly converted into a clean sheet if not for the persistent late effort of their opponents. The three points obtained meant that Giallorossi are now close to within eight points of league frontrunners Juventus. The difference is still quite big, but at least Rudi Garcia’s men are able to give pressure on the potential champions.

Unexpectedly, Atalanta failed to grab the silverware from struggling squad Sassuolo. Not only did the match steal them of three points, but it also rendered them goalless with an excellent brace from Sassuolo’s Nicola Sansone and outstanding saves by Gianluca Pegolo. The upset served as La Dea’s first in eight matches and further veered them away from barging into the esteemed top six.

Sports betting tip: Roma will be in control of this tourney.

Napoli vs. Lazio

Match Date: 13 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio San Paolo

Bludgeoned to a goalless defeat, Napoli had their title hopes even more impaired with a three-point set stolen away from them. Parma only needed Marco Parolo’s 55th-minute goal to win the battle, and no matter how hard Napoli tried to level the score, they were successfully kept at bay by their opponents all throughout the meeting. This marked the third time Partenopei lost the spoils this year, following the 3-0 upset from Atalanta on February and 0-1 from Fiorentina last month.

Lazio closed to within two points of Parma to bag seeding in the Europa League after they won a clean sheet against a disappointing Sampdoria. Despite being reduced to 10 men—losing Lucas Biglia for a second yellow card—the side still managed to keep their opponents lifeless on both halves. Antonio Candreva opened the scoring in the 42nd minute before Senad Lulic doubled it and sealed the winner in the 73rd. With harder work and a few more improvements on their discipline, Biancocelesti will absolutely make it to the continental leagues.

Online betting tip: Napoli will create more chances, but they will eventually share the points with Lazio at the end of the battle.
