Sampdoria occupied the drop zone six times since the season started, but are now five spots adrift of misery. Thanks to their successes in the majority of their most recent Serie A displays, their hope to ship another top-flight presence in the next season is just getting stronger.

Blucerchiati’s last eight top-tier matches were mostly successful, with just two fixtures rewarding them with no points. All of their victories were clean sheets, stealing all the spoils (and goals) from Catania 2-0, Chievo 0-1, Udinese 3-0, and most recently Genoa 0-1. They were held in a draw by Parma and Bologna, and were beaten by Napoli and league leaders Juventus.

Manolo Gabbiadini is one of the side’s best scorers, having shown impressive stunts in Sampdoria’s latest battles. He scored two of their seven latest goals (and was crucial in another two). Brazilian forward Eder, meanwhile, provided the most assists.

Cagliari won their first Serie A victory this year as Mauricio Pinilla’s first-half penalty decided a 1-0 home victory over an uninspiring Fiorentina side at the Stadio Sant’Elia. The Chilean forward scored a penalty shortly before half-time to improve Cagliari’s volume to another three points.

Rossoblu’s latest success put an end to their six-match winless streak. Their three previous displays were achingly awful, conceding seven goals and allowing their opponents (Juventus, Atalanta, and Milan) to steal the silverware without much effort.

Sports betting tip: While Sampdoria and Cagliari are only one point apart (they are ranked side by side in the league table), it is still very possible that one of them will go home running away the bacon. Cagliari will lose all the points while Sampdoria could transport another clean sheet to their record.
