Updated: January 28, 2014

Match Date: 02 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Olimpico

After they lorded over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on weekend, Roma shipped three more points to close their gap with table leaders Juventus to just six. Goals from Adem Ljaljic, Gervinho, and Francesco Totti allowed their team to bag all the spoils from the fixture as Emil Hallfredsson’s second-half equalizer proved insufficient for Verona. Four days before this victory, i Giallorossi recorded a 1-0 triumph over Juve in the Coppa Italia—their fourth consecutive win at the time.

Regaining the top spot is now very plausible for Roma especially that they have already demonstrated how robust they can be even with the current table leaders as their opponents. Thus far, they have only been defeated once in the current season of Serie A and have won the bulk majority of their fixtures—the very reason why they led the pack from weeks 4 to 12.

With a blazing rigor to obtain all the points, Parma trounced struggling Udinese to earn a narrow but well-deserved 1-0 top-tier win. Amauri’s header in the 35th minute broke the goalless deadlock and sent I Crociati to their fourth straight league win. This brought the club to the table’s seventh spot, where they are now just one point behind of fifth-placed Inter Milan.

Parma’s skills in the wings as well as in stealing the ball from the opposition make them formidable nemeses for clubs who are less talented at these areas. However, the side do have some shortcomings. They often fail to protect the lead and their aggressive style of playing also means that they are infamous at fouling in dangerous areas.

Sports betting tip: With a clean record at home, Roma are in a very good position to seize all three points from Parma. The clash will not necessarily earn the hosts a clean sheet, but they will dominate the scoring with a large lead.
