Serie A Match Preview: Roma vs. Napoli

Updated: October 11, 2013

Match Date: 19 October 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Olimpico, Rome

This meeting will be a clash of the fittest—a sure treat for spectators and online bookies alike. Roma and Napoli are both currently leading the Italian top-tier league, with just two points separating them.

Debuting at number three, Roma have successfully ascended to the league table’s top in just four fixtures. Propelled by massive wins in their last three matches, the side were able to maintain their top position up to this very point. Giallorossi are yet to score a draw or a defeat as they remain unbeaten—a feat definitely not an easy threshold in which to foray. In their most recent battle, Rudi Garcia’s team thrashed Inter in a very impressive 0-3 away finish. Francisco Totti netted twice while Alessandro Florenzi sealed the three-goal spree. This led the side to be seven goals clear above their fourth-placed opponents.

Napoli finished their first three Serie A matches with flying colors, allowing them to rake the top spot on those occasions. However, since their fourth fixture, the side have slightly slipped in the table, now ranked second after Roma made much more impressive stunts. While Partenopei remain undefeated, they have already drawn once this season—with current bottom occupants, Sassuolo. The result was a surprise by most expectations, which forced Rafael Benítez’s lads to think over their tactics again and see which things they have done a little off. And rethinking they did that they found new tractions to win their subsequent battles.

Football betting tip: There is no doubt this fixture would be one of the season’s highlights. Both sides are tremendously strong and ending their match in a very tight encounter is not unlikely. A 1-1 finish will ultimately cap this meeting.
