Serie A Match Preview: Parma vs. Catania

Updated: February 7, 2014

Match Date: 09 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Ennio Tardini

Parma’s excellent ability to attack down the wings and create chances via through balls have rewarded them enough to earn eight victories in the season. Currently placed at number eight, the side have been mostly successful in their battles since November, and most especially this year. All of their four most recent top-flight matches ended in triumphs, with only a defeat from Lazio in the Coppa Italia staining their impressive streak. Clubs like Torino, Chievo, Livorno, and Udinese all submitted to Crociati, with the last two teams beaten in clean sheets.

Suffering severe pains at the league table’s foot, Catania will find it extremely hard to beat the odds and surmount any rival ranking within the top-half. They have been winless for the last five fixtures (in all competitions) and they currently have the season’s second-worst goal difference (-24), the largest number of defeats (13, shared with Udinese, Sassuolo, and Catania), and the smallest total earned points (15).

Rossazzurri’s most recent battle was quite stunning, netting three goals against Livorno. However, their opponents also scored the same number of goals, thus ending their tourney in a draw. Sharing the points, both the relegation candidates left the court deeply frustrated.

Sports betting tip: Parma are apparently more in-form than Catania. Their disciplines in the pitch are remarkably stellar and their knack for converting chances is a guarantee of continued success. Expect this battle to run and end with the hosts in the driver’s seat.
