Serie A Match Preview: Napoli vs. AC Milan

Updated: February 7, 2014

Match Date: 08 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio San Paolo

While still short of 16 points to dominate the league, Napoli are nevertheless comfortably seated at number three, behind AS Roma and frontrunners Juventus. They are also one of the only five clubs to post double-digit positive goal difference.

Napoli’s strengths are sometimes put to test when they go up front a very strong defense of their rivals. This is what exactly happened when they met up with Atalanta, who trounced them on a devastating clean sheet. The first half saw both sides striving to convert chances, but it was in the second period that everything gradually materialized. German Denis scored twice for Atalanta and Maxi Moralez’s late goal sealed the scoring. Jose Reina, Gokhan Inler, and Federico Fernandez each made blatant errors to simplify attempts at creating Atalanta’s goals.

AC Milan

AC Milan let go of a good chunk of their points as sprightly Torino held them in a 1-1 draw at San Siro. Ciro Immobile opened the scoring for the visitors in the 17th minute, but an Adil Rami strike early in the second half provided Rossoneri an equalizer. Milan put Torino under pressure for much of the second half, but were unable to find a winning goal, giving coach Clarence Seedorf his first deadlock after two wins in his first two Serie A matches with the team.

Milan are currently in the table’s top half, a dozen points clear of the relegation zone. Thus far, they have already secured seven wins and eight draws in 22 matches with overall score of 29 points. They have scored 35 goals and conceded 32.

Football betting tip: Seedorf is showing the proper way to lead a team and his ability to put Milan in the league’s higher reaches will be put to test with Napoli coming their way. Expect brilliant exchanges from this battle. A draw is very possible to happen.
