Serie A Match Preview: Genoa vs. Chievo

Updated: October 14, 2013
UC Sampdoria v Genoa CFC - Serie A

Match Date: 20 October 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Comunale Luigi Ferraris, Genoa

Of the three home matches they had this season, Genoa barely scored a goal. Drawing once and losing twice, the side are plagued by frailties in their home turf. As visitors, Gian Piero Gasperini’s players are not also necessarily a pack of achievers. They’ve already lost two away matches this term, but a massive 0-3 derby win over Sampdoria nevertheless repaired one of their streak’s dodges. It is their only victory in the tournament, thus far, and more surprise drills are needed to be displayed in order for them to ascend in the table rankings. With their fourth home match approaching, the troupe should not shame themselves again with another upset.

A clean sheet (which otherwise ended in a draw) in their curtain raiser gave Chievo their only match this season that did not disentangle goals in favor of their nemeses. Except for a lone 2-1 victory (over Udinese) in the fourth match week, the side’s streak has largely been a trash tank of dismaying losses. A troubled midfield, coupled by slow attacks on the flanks, coach Giuseppe Sannino’s men will find a hard time keeping their fire in the pitch. In addition, the side have only picked up four points from all of their matches and are currently ranked just one spot above the bottom three.

Online betting tip:  Both sides are at the lower mid-table of the league’s rankings, indicative of the teams’ meek performances in the past seven fixtures. With none of them clearly showing sheer dominance over the other, a low scoring deadlock between Genoa and Chievo should be expected in this round.
