In spite of Verona’s rigorous appetite to win all the spoils, it was Fiorentina who eventually rule the fixture over. The thrilling match on weekend saw Viola shorten their distance to the Champions League spots with an impressive 3-5 finish at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodic.

Jacopo Sala put Verona at the front early on but Juan Cuadrado and Alberto Aquilani fired agile retaliations for Fiorentina before half-time. Borja Valero tripled the visitors’ lead before Marco Donadel’s sendoff which further solidified the visitors’ dominance. Luca Toni’s effort was double-murdered by Alessandro Matri’s penalty and Aquilani’s second before Verona forward Juan Iturbe converted the final attempt in the eight-goal spectacle. The win would be Fiorentina’s 17th this season, and they are now only nine points below current third placers Napoli.

AS Roma

Roma are keeping the pressure on current leaders Juventus with a massive win they bagged from Atalanta on weekend at the Stadio Olimpico. The 3-1 home victory ensured that Rudi Garcia’s men would remain only five points behind the frontrunners. Francesco Totti was the main man to fuel Giallorossi’s reaping of all the marbles, having created the opportunities for the goals of Rodrigo Taddei, Adem Ljajic, and Gervinho before Giulio Migliaccio took home a consolation for the opposition. The three goals scored in the match made the squad the best performing team in the league in terms of goal difference—ahead of Juve by two goals. A few more wins (or less for the top dogs) and Roma will obtain the overall championship.

Sports betting tip: This match will yield inspiring displays from both sides but Roma will eventually carry the day.
