Updated: January 3, 2014

Match Date: 05 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Marc`Antonio Bentegodi

While they may have achieved three clean sheets in their six most recent fixtures, Chievo have also incurred severe defeats. They lost all the three points to Sampdoria 0-1 in their meeting at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi and were stolen of four goals by Torino 4-1. Capped by a W4-D3-L10 record, the side are at high risk of falling into the bottom, especially now they are only one point clear of relegation.

Eugenio Corini’s lads are still struggling to avoid offside—one of their weakest qualities. They also mshow limited skills in their defense against long shots, consistently frail at ball possession, and lack adeptness at finishing scoring chances. They are. However, do quite well in attacking down the wings and in defending set pieces.

Although they were undefeated for the last six matches, Cagliari cannot complete claim strong standing in the Italian top-tier football. Four of those matches only finished in draws, two of which were goal-less. The remainders were victories, which they achieved from Torino 2-1 and Genoa 2-1.

Free kicks are the usual score generation opportunities that Diego López’s men use to gain comfort, which is often bolstered by their ability to come back strong after every downfall. They are also good at attacking set pieces and protecting the lead. What they need to put much more focus on, however, is their dilemma on managing through ball attacks. They are also careless about individual errors, plus a relatively underdeveloped skill in finishing scoring chances make it even harder for them to strengthen their attack.

Football betting tip: Both Chievo and Cagliari have their own strengths and weaknesses, with each side almost displaying these traits as opposites to the other. With all measures considered, this fixture could end in a deadlock.
