Chievo Verona

Alberto Paloschi’s hat-trick was of massive significance in extending the lifelines of Chievo Verona in the Italian top-tier league as it gave them a big boost in their survival hopes. The side earned a much-needed victory on weekend at the Armando Picchi after they beat Livrono 4-2 on a thrilling encounter. The visitors may have opened the scoring and earned a penalty goal but it was the hosts that truly showed how good football is done. Paloschi and Cyril Thereau were all that Gialloblu needed to bag the silverware.

The triumph meant that Eugenio Corini’s men would remain above the drop zone. They are currently two spots or five points clear of the bottom three and should they manage to replicate this success in their subsequent matches, they are off to a safe finish in Serie A.

Struggling Sassuolo shed new hopes at survival after they picked up a much-needed point from an even top-tier clash against Cagliari. Coach Ivo Pulga made sure that his return to Cagliari will yield him with at least one point, and so he did after Agim Ibrahimi’s penalty cancelled out Simone Zaza’s opener. The tourney’s first 47 minutes were the only productive periods of the face-off. The vast part of the second half put both sides at bay.

Sassuolo are still buried in the relegation zone but they are now just one point closer to escaping the league table’s most dreaded section.

Football betting tip: Chievo and Sassuolo will conclude their meeting in a stalemate.
