Demotion to Serie B is almost sealed for bottom occupants Catania. The side have never been able to bag three points from their last nine top-flight fixtures, which include their brawl against their most rivals, Milan. The very poor streak is taking a toll on the players’ confidence. In fact, they have barely been working on a functional attack this year, inflicting them with eight goalless attempts since January.

There are plenty of factors that contribute to Rossazzurri’s difficult run in the season, and most of them boil down to skills set. Siniša Mihajlović’s men may be well-endowed with good faculties in protecting the lead and stealing the ball from their opponents but they largely fall short in other key skills such as possession, conversion, aerial battles, defending set pieces, and avoidance of the danger zones.

Sampdoria’s roller coaster ride this season took a plunge again after they showed poor footwork against Internazionale on weekend at the Luigi Ferraris. The side were beaten on a clean sheet which was in part caused by them being reduced to 10 men. The attack was mediocre at best, although they were obviously trying hard to make the best of it. A penalty by Maxi Lopez should have given Blucerchiati a goal, but it was denied by Inter goalkeeper Handanovic. A few more attempts by Siniša Mihajlović’s players were successfully saved by the sprightly keeper. In the end, only the goals from Samuel, Palacio, and Icardi (a brace) were counted in the match. As a result, Sampdoria remain in the bottom half.

Online betting tip: Sampdoria will seek vengeance by lording Catania over.
