Serie A Match Preview: Cagliari vs. Catania

Updated: October 11, 2013
Cagliari Calcio v UC Sampdoria - Serie A

Match Date: 19 October 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Sant’Elia, Cagliari

This will be Cagliari’s fourth match at home, and their previous fixtures from this arrangement yielded satisfactory results. The side debuted in the season with a load of victory over Atalanta, soliciting loud cheers from the squad’s local supporters. Their second and third home matches, while not necessarily bad, ended in stalemates.  In the Rossoblu’s other battles, none have been of sizable significance. Two draws were forced from them and two defeats made them quite frail. Overall, Diego Lopez’s players have only scored seven points from seven matches, providing them a room to dwell in the league table’s 14th place.

Catania’s form is crying for a substantial improvement. Thus far, the side have only won in one match and already suffered in four downfalls. They are generally doing unspectacular, having been in the danger zone four times in a row. Out of the seven fixtures this season, Rossazzurri have already conceded 11 goals—six innings higher than what they have scored. In their most recent fight, Rolando Maran’s men drawn with Genoa, serving as an ‘okay’ follow-up to their 2-0 home win against Chievo. The side’s worst meeting was that with Inter, where they were assaulted by the three goals from Palacio, Nagatomo, and Alvarez. They left the turf ground with no inning.

Football betting tip: In this tourney, none of the rivals will strike really impressive goals as both of them are challenged with creativity issues and shortage of innovative strategies. Regardless, Cagliari may finish this tourney in a 1-0 home victory.
