Serie A Match Preview: Bologna vs. Udinese

Updated: January 29, 2014

Match Date: 01 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Renato Della`Ara

Scoring just one point clear of relegation and winless in their past four Serie A matches, Bologna suffer from a considerable problem in the defense and a relatively inefficient attack. As per 21st top-tier week, the side have only fired 20 goals and conceded 36, for a goal difference if -16.

In their most recent tourney, Bologna would have been thrust into the relegation zone if not for the late goal by Alessandro Diamanti, which was an equalizer to Sampdoria’s opener. The match started off with low energy, even extending the deadlock over the hour. Manolo Gabbiadini scored the first goal in the 62nd minute for Sampdoria, only to be leveled by Diamanti at full time.

Udinese were beaten by Parma in their most recent Serie A match, denying them of obtaining their first top-tier win in four weeks. The side went into the fixture at the Stadio Ennio Tardini motivated by their 2-1 conquest at AC Milan, which gave them berth in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia. However, they struggled to break through Parma’s impressive defense and were restricted to shooting from outside the box. By the end of the tourney, Amauri of Parma was the only player to strike a goal.

Udinese’s fourth loss in a row has left them barely clinging in the 15th spot and only three points clear of the table’s deadliest zone.

Football betting tip: This battle will showcase strong attempts from both Bologna and Udinese at creating chances, but their limited capabilities of producing those opportunities will hinder them from scoring multiple goals. Expect this battle to end in a low-scoring deadlock.
