Match Previews: Serie A (November 3-4)

Updated: October 31, 2013

Lazio vs. Genoa

Match Date: 03 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Olimpico

Lazio’s last five Serie A matches added six points to the side’s overall score, with one win and three draws obtained from those meetings. Overall, the team have already seized 15 points to place them in the table’s top seven. A heavy rotation in the ensemble’s positions may have benefited the squad in general, but Vladimir Petković is still tasked to find the best formula that would allow his lads to ascend at least in the table’s fifth spot. The side’s form is improving, and their stability crisis is gradually receding.

Ranking in the mid-table, Genoa is neither a remarkable troupe nor a frustrating squad. What is certain is that I Rossoblu are maligned with inconsistency. They were successful in their most recent battle, but were embarrassing in the match prior to that. While they generally have mixed results, the side are more leaning toward the table’s lower half. They have been in the relegation once, and they never went past the 13th spot in all 10 match weeks of Serie A.

Football betting tip: Confronted by a more organized team, Genoa are in dire need of plausible strategies to win this round. Lazio have shown remarkable improvements since their awful performance in Torino, and may even prove themselves even more with a possible victory from this upcoming fixture.

Sampdoria vs. Sassuolo

Match Date: 03 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Comunale Luigi Ferraris

Sampdoria’s three consecutive unbeaten matches finally came to an end when they visited the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to clash with Verona. The result was quite expected, mainly because the home side were notorious of having a good control of their own game while the visitors are not very well-equipped to fire a massive attack. Nevertheless, I Blucerchiati will remain positive of their run in the season, especially after achieving back-to-back victories in the eighth and ninth match weeks as well as obtaining their first clean sheet from the latter of those two weeks.

Still lacking the necessary ingredients to fully adapt with the frenetic atmosphere of Serie A, Sassuolo failed to continue a supposedly ‘improving’ run in the tournament. The side lost in their most recent battle against Udinese, a team that is also periled by consistency issues. Their victory over Bologna might have just really been a lucky strike, but their useful draw with Catania hinted that it was not. At this point of the competition, experimentations should have already gone past the initial stage. Coach Eusebio Di Francesco must already know which of his strategies really work and focus on them painstakingly in order for his players to achieve much better results in the future.

Online betting tip: None of the sides are truly capable of thrashing their opponents by a substantial degree. Sampdoria and Sassuolo are both timid at showcasing a brilliant attack, but may also exude a surprise factor whenever they are forced to do so. In this round, a 2-2 draw might ink the finish line.

Udinese vs. Internazionale

Match Date: 03 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Friuli

Preventing Sassuolo from achieving their second win in the competition was a job neatly done by Udinese. Despite the threat of a plausible away defeat, the side were able to spoil the hopes of their lowly opponents. The three points they picked up from the clash allowed Biaconeri to enter the top eight for the third time this season. The victory was really a reason to celebrate, but Francesco Guidolin must still bear in his mind that his squad’s dilemma in the creativity department is not yet fully resolved and may take a toll on their end when they meet higher quality clubs in the future.

Inter have a very solid form this season, having won in five tourneys, drawn in four, and beaten in just one. The side’s greatest success in the current Serie A is their triumph over Sassuolo, which yielded a clean sheet characterized by seven excellent goals. It is also the biggest away win and one of highest scoring matches in the tournament overall. Although two of their three most recent fixtures ended in a draw, Walter Mazzarri and his men are confident that they will manage to take control of their next combats.

Football betting tip: Facing a club that have never been defeated in six consecutive Serie A away matches (including last season), Udinese are in danger of losing their pulse in this round. Inter are very much in shape to tackle their enemies in this fixture, which will probably give them a two-goal lead by the end of the session.

Torino vs. AS Roma

Match Date: 03 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino

Inflicted by a string of fairly impressive showings, Torino are having a relatively difficult run this season—although not as difficult as that being experienced by the relegation zone occupants. The side have only managed to extract four points from their last six matches, all obtained from deadlocks. In other words, Il Toro lost two of those fixtures. They are currently ranked in the table’s 15th spot, just a few places away from the dreaded bottom triad. Overall, the side have only won twice this season, and have drawn in the majority of their tourneys.

AS Roma

The current table leaders show no sign of any retreat, after ALL of their matches finished in riveting victories. The perfect streak is capped by six clean sheets, the most for any club in the tournament. Compared to last season (when they landed in the sixth spot by the season’s culmination), i Giallorossi have improved rather tremendously. If Rudi Garcia would be able to keep his side’s momentum up to the finale, Roma players might just dance to the rhythm of the championship for the fourth time in the club’s history.

Online betting tip: Welcoming Roma to their home court would be a suicide for Torino. This round is clearly favoring the visitors and without doubt, they will make this an opportunity to clinch another win this season.

Bologna FC v Novara Calcio - Serie A

Bologna vs. Chievo

Match Date: 04 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stadio Renato Della`Ara

After eight match weeks of embarrassing results, Bologna have finally found a silver lining in their streak with a victory over Livorno 1-0. The success was even more fortified by another triumph in their next battle, this time against Cagliari 0-3. Winning those last two tourneys was the only thing Stefano Pioli had in his mind for his club, but finishing them in clean sheets was never really expected. Bologna’s creativity was upgraded by a few notches, but it is their tremendously improved defense that led them to their escape from the relegation zone.

Despite debuting in the season with an ‘okay’ draw with Parma, Chievo have failed to show improvements in their subsequent matches. The victory at Udinese may have caused blithe sound in the side’s melody, but their losses in the majority of their matches resonated terrible tones to their pitch rhythm. Gialloblu are insufficiently managed by Giuseppe Sannino, although the coach have been trying so hard to keep his lads motivated.

Football betting tip: Based on their most recent showings, Bologna are in the better position to claim this match to their favor. With their offense developing and their defense already improving, Bologna could seize their third consecutive clean sheet from this battle.
