Empoli and Roma had contrasting results in their respective debuts in the new Serie A season. While the newly promoted side incurred a zero-goal defeat to Udinese, the last season’s runners up obtained a two-goal clean sheet against Fiorentina. These results put the sides in the 2nd and 19th spots in the league table, respectively, showing a potential base ranking for the rest of the competition. Both sides, however, had excellent runs in their pre-season friendlies, especially Empoli who scored a stellar 0-10 away win versus Lampo 1919. Roma, meanwhile, seized five goals from and conceded none to Eltendorf. Head to head, the teams last met in 2008 in the Italian top-tier football, with Giallorossi as the eventual winners.

Football betting tip: Roma will score their second clean sheet victory from their tourney against Empoli.

Juventus vs. Udinese

Match Date: 14 September 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Juventus Stadium

The defending champions are showing no hesitation at making a fourth consecutive win in Serie A as they successfully kicked off a winning campaign with a rout at Chievo. This completes their unbeaten streak in 10 matches from all competitions, which include Hybrid Friendlies against ISL All Stars 1-8, A-League All Stars 2-3, and Singapore Selection 0-5. Udinese, meanwhile, are also making their top-flight presence known. The side pulled off a two-goal clean sheet against returning squad Empoli and this significantly helped them rank second (jointly, with Roma) in the league table for the season’s debut week. Their ability to create scoring chances—either via long shots or through balls—will get them far in the competition, but they must be extra cautious in the offside to avoid unnecessary nuisances.

Sports betting tip: Juventus could seal a second straight win at the expense of Udinese.
