Augsburg started their 2013-14 season campaign with two back-to-back defeats in Bundesliga, putting them nearly at the rock bottom of the league table in the first two weeks. However, their subsequent matches gave some silver linings to their form which helped them rapidly ascend to the top six as early as week five (and repeated it on week 24). They have since been one of the online betting favorites amongst bettors for the entire season.

Eight new players were signed by the club last season: Halil Altintop, Raphael Holzhauser, Panagiotis Vlachodimos, Raphael Holzhauser, Arkadiusz Milik, Hong Jeong-Ho, Mathias Fetsch, Raúl Bobadilla, and Marwin Hitz. Meanwhile, seven players left for other clubs: Knowledge Musona, Torsten Oehrl, Milan Petržela, Sebastian Langkamp, Aristide Bancé, Marco Thiede, and Stephan Hain. By the end of the season, Altintop emerged as one of the side’s top Bundesliga scorers along with Andre Hahn with four goals scored by each of them.

Fuggerstädter had their best Bundesliga finish last season which was also their third consecutive appearance in the German top-tier football. Their previous two terms only ranked them 14th and 15th, respectively, which were not attractive enough to gain a great deal of fans and a strong support base. With them ranking within the top half of the league table last term, there is huge possibility that they will play as dark horses in the upcoming season. They have yet to prove a lot of things, but they certainly have the drive and the resources to do so.
