Recap

For the second time around, Bordeaux finished on the 7th  spot of France’s top-flight league. Although such finish was stronger and better than those struggling in the rock bottom pit of the table, this does not erase the fact that mediocrity best describes their previous performance.

A clear manifestation of its uninspired display was evident in their inability to defend their Coupe de Ligue title. The online betting favorite, Paris Saint Germain outlasted them during the quarterfinal, thus, putting an abrupt stop to their quest for the coveted silverware.

Likewise, a dismal defeat to Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Europa League caused further embarrassment to the squad.

Yet, if there is any incident that raises question to Bordeaux competitiveness, it was their long winless streak towards the end of the 2013/2014 season. It thrived via stalemates with occasional victories on the side.

Match to remember

Slapping Ajaccio with four (4) goals to nil gave Bordeaux’s morale a major boost. Likewise, the win over Lille that ended Vincent Enyeama’s reign can be fairly considered as one of the highlights in Bordeaux’s performance.

Match to forget

Conceding three (3) goals to the newly-promoted rival, Nantes was probably the worst defeat that the club has to endure.

The scene-stealers

Cheick Diabaté’s ten (10) goals were impressive. However, Bordeaux’s real man of the match was no other than Grégory Sertic. Not only did he score three (3) goals, he also contributed ten (10) important assists.

Latest additions

Recently, the club secured the signature of winger Wahbi Khazri. The young, dynamic and versatile player is said to possess the qualities that will help Bordeaux achieve its ambitions.
