Bundesliga Team Review: Schalke 04

Schalke 04- Klaas Jan Huntelaar

Injury issues almost tore down the sports betting favorite, Schalke 04 last season. One of its top scorers, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar missed many of the club’s matches due to health concerns and this has readily affected their performance.

One can remember the time when Schalke dropped into the mid-table. Not only did that scenario shock many of its supporters, many were not expecting it too. For the past two (2) seasons, the Royal Blues has been one of Bundesliga’s top performers. Likewise, it has become one of the most familiar faces in the Champions League. Thus, to see them bore and frustrate their supporters, was quite unlikely.

Despite the struggles they went through, a resilient and determined Schalke emerged. Jefferson Farfan, Adam Szalai, to name a few, heavily contributed to the squad’s scoring department.

Moreover, the depth of Kevin Prince Boateng’s experience was instrumental in the club’s Champions League exploits.

Match to remember

Its 2-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen during the season’s second half signaled Schalke’s rise to the top three (3) again. Bayer was also targeting such spot, but the loss has thwarted their chances.

Match to forget

Losing a 5-1 match against the defending champion, Bayern Munchen was a definite blow to the club’s morale and self-esteem.

The scene-stealers

Julian Draxler stood out as a promising poacher for the club. Despite his tender age, the scoring abilities of this young man cannot be questioned. The same thing holds true for its surprise signing, Kevin Prince Boateng. Boateng bolstered the club’s defence, while adding more points to the Schalke’s score sheet.

Latest additions

Former Mainz 05 striker, Eric Chuopo-Moting  just signed a 3-year deal with Schalke. It looks like another scoring machine landed in Veltins Arena
