Hannover vs Mainz

The German top-flight league, a highly anticipated tournament amongst football enthusiasts and sports betting sites, ended its third week with flying colors for a handful of tenacious squads. For current seventh placers, Hannover 96, a challenging fourth Bundesliga appearance is about to boost or break their current streak. The side will play at home on the last day of August against the undefeated (by far) Mainz 05.

The sides’ challenges and silver linings

Szabolcs Huszti’s absence in the ensemble may have been taking a toll on Hannover 96. A line-up overhaul is set to take place in the team due to such player subtraction, including a switching to the left wing by Edgar Prib and central midfield duty for Andre Hoffmann. Christian Pander is also out due to injury, pushing Sebastien Pocognoli to start at left-back. But regardless of the reassignments, Die Roten are still in ecstatic mood to continue their campaign aggressively. Their last fixtures have been difficult, yet they managed to win two of those and succumbed to their opponents only once.

Mainz 05 remain perfect with a three-match chain untainted with neither a loss nor a draw. Their last match came in a little shy in the first half, but eventually took off to high distances after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting ambushed an unfastened ball in the box and slammed it into the back of the net to give Die Nullfünfer the 1-0 lead in the 61st minute. Nicolai Müller doubled his side’s lead with a perfectly controlled goal in the 78th minute.

Head-to-head comparison and possible finish

Hannover have been drawing at both half time and full time in their last three home matches against Mainz in all competitions; but Bundesliga-wise, Mainz have been winning their matches since the season started. Hannover lost one of their three tourneys but emerged successful in the other two. Die Roten have scored at least two goals in their last four home matches in the German top-tier football while Die Nullfünfer had at least 2.5 away goals scored in the same tournament. Will all these factors taken into consideration, Mainz show excellent capacity to bag a fourth win. Hannover are a monumental wall to crash into, but their opponents can break concrete barriers whenever they need to do so. The match will conclude in a narrow 2-1 tally.
