Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. Augsburg

Match Date: 08 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Borussia-Park

Borussia M’gladbach are running a six-week streak without any win, and that took a toll on their Europa League bid as they are now below the eligibility line (at number seven). While their last three matches all gave them some points (from draws), they were not enough to get them back on track. On that note, the picture seems more agreeable for Augsburg. The side have barged into the table’s upper reaches only once (sixth place) but have since never been able to reclaim that position; nevertheless, they keep on striving and their recent displays are definitely more pleasant than Die Fohlen’s. Of their 11 most recent fixtures (from all competitions), they only lost once. They are currently at the top-tier table’s ninth spot

Football betting tip: Despite their recent misfortunes, M’gladbach are still capable of pulling off a good show, but this battle with Augsburg would probably give them only one point.

Hamburg vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

Match Date: 08 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: HSH Nordbank Arena

Hamburg have booked a sixth straight week in the relegation battle with a frustrating result from Werder Bremen 1-0. This puts them into a much more pressured environment where they need (strictly so) to nail their subsequent tourneys in order to shun top-flight league exit. Their current form is a far cry from what it was three decades ago when they ended up as victors or runners up five times (collectively).

Frankfurt share almost similar fate as Hamburg, but they have proven to be more resilient than their rivals. The former relegation candidates are enjoying a fourth consecutive match (all competitions) without a defeat, bagging a crisp victory from Stuttgart in the German top-tier football to earn them all three points and ascend into the top dozen.

Sports betting tip: While Frankfurt have a more reliable form than Hamburg, the sides will conclude this game in draw. Their past face-offs suggest nearly equal capacities to earn the spoils.

Hannover 96 vs. Bayer Leverkusen

Match Date: 08 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: AWD-Arena

Deprived of victory in three Bundesliga matches, Hannover 96 finally earned a point from a draw with Augsburg. This was also their first time since their M’gladbach 3-1 victory that they were able to find the net. Mame Diouf opened the scoring for Die Roten against the run of play before Ragnar Klavan fired an equalizer. The point, however, did not help them go on an upward movement and instead remained locked at number 11.

Leverkusen, who currently sit at the third spot, may find it difficult to overtake Munich in the top spot as they are 22 points behind the race. Chasing for the second spot is plausible, nonetheless, with Dortmund only two points clear of the Sami Hyypiä side. Their last three matches, however, suggest that they need to be more aggressive at converting chances. They were rendered underdogs in all of them.

Online betting tip: This match will see Leverkusen pull off redemption.

Schalke 04 vs. Hoffenheim

Match Date: 08 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Veltins-Arena

Schalke 04’s nearly perfect form for seven league weeks suddenly evaporated as top-flight leaders Bayern Munchen inflicted a massive away defeat on them. This exacted the side with a three-point deficit and five goals conceded, though both factors barely influenced their standing in the table (which remains at number four). Hoffenheim, meanwhile, have booked a fifth Bundesliga week without a defeat, securing a very impressive 6-2 victory at Wolfsburg. Roberto Firmino opened the scoring while Niklas Sule maintained the lead after Wolfsburg managed to fire an equalizer. Anthony Modeste scored twice and Sejad Salihovic and Sven Schipplock earned one goal apiece late in the fixture.

Football betting tip: Although upset due to their recent disaster, Schalke 04 will eagerly avenge themselves and win this fight.

Stuttgart vs. Braunschweig

Match Date: 08 March 2014 (local)

Stuttgart and Brauncschweig are both in dire need of victories in their next battles—to avoid plunging into the drop zone or to get out of that  said zone. This meeting will test the sides’ survival skills, and the odds do not seem to support either of the two.

Die Roten have spent their last seven Bundesliga weeks rather unproductively, conceding 18 goals and picking up zero points. They are level on points with Hamburg and Freiburg and they are taking the higher league position only by goal difference. Die Löwen, meanwhile, picked up eight points from their past seven matches but they remain at the table’s foot due to the severe damages they incurred from earlier fixtures.

Sports betting tip: This battle will finish with both squads earning one point apiece.

Wolfsburg vs. Bayern Munchen

Match Date: 08 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Volkswagen Arena

With a massively successful campaign in the German top-flight league, Bayern Munich are capable of holding the top spot in the next five match weeks even if they lose (which is unlikely) all those. The defending champions are aggressively proving to every Bundesliga spectator that they are Germany’s best brood of players, as evidenced by a record-breaking unbeaten record since the start (or even before it) of the season. With this, Wolfsburg will have to extract blood from stone for them to destroy the league leaders’ solid streak. The hosts, who currently occupy the fifth spot, have some troubles in the defense and are likely to concede goals to opponents who are tremendously successful at converting chances created via through balls.

Online betting tip: Bayern Munchen are the clear winners of this tourney.

Nurnberg vs. Werder Bremen

Match Date:  08 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: EasyCredit-Stadion

(Featured image: Nurnberg | Source: skysports.com)

Nurnberg and Werder Bremen’s last four meetings rendered the former to be the dominant side. However, this season, the certainty of Der Club at thrashing Die Werderaner would be quite a long shot. The term has generally been more hospitable towards Bremen who—despite some issues on inconsistency—have yet to spend a week in the relegation zone. This is in contrast to Nurnberg who have already succumbed to waterloo eight times in the far past weeks.

Gertjan Verbeek’s men find more comfort at home than on the road, losing only once in their six most recent home tourneys (though half of these were deadlocks). Robin Dutt’s players, meanwhile, often face their toughest challenge outside their territory, having posted zero wins (but earning three points from three draws) from their past six away matches.

Football betting tip: As with their last Bundesliga face-off, Nurnberg and Werder Bremen will hold each other on a draw in this meeting.

Freiburg vs. Borussia Dortmund

Match Date:  09 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: MAGE SOLAR Stadion

The assumption that Borussia Dortmund will end up winning this battle holds water. The apparently dominant side have built a massively successful defense that they delivered clean sheets several times this season, their most recent being their brawl against Nurnberg 3-0. With 12 victories under their belt, Die Borussen are the second most powerful club in the current German top-tier football season, just behind defending champions Bayern Munchen.

Freiburg are still struggling to fight for survival, having been buried in the bottom two for a second straight week as they were held in a goalless draw by Berlin. Breisgau-Brasilianer are not new to the relegation zone; in fact, they have been in the table’s most dangerous areas last year of the same season.

Sports betting tip: Borussia Dortmund will run home as victors.

Mainz 05 vs. Hertha Berlin

Match Date:  09 March 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Coface Arena

Only two spots and two points apart, Mainz 05 and Berlin are up for a neck-and-neck battle. While the hosts might have a good chance at securing berth in the Europa League, the visitors are equally striving to earn the same—especially when they know that they are better both in the attack and defense (as per goal difference) than their nemeses.

Only one match, a 3-0 defeat from Wolfsburg, taints Mainz’s streak for their past 12 fixtures in all competitions. That equates to a generally strong form. Berlin have fewer victories to flaunt as they lost four times in their 12 most recent tourneys. However, this does not automatically qualify them to be the underdogs.

Online betting tip: Mainz 05 and Berlin will come out even.
