Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund are currently ranked in the opposing poles (or more accurately, halves) of the league table. While the latter are still ahead of the former, none of the sides have shown absolute spectacles since the new season opened.

Schalke 04

After four weeks of relatively fruitless outings, Schalke 04 have finally secured a complete three-point achievement in Bundesliga. The side have recently won a clean sheet against Werder Bremen, capping a unflattering streak that was pre-conditioned by two draws and a pair of defeats. Max Meyer opened the scoring, netting the first goal of the match after 48 minutes of a goalless deadlock. Shortly after, Roman Neustadter doubled Die Königsblauen’s lead through a Christian Fuchs pass before Tranquillo Barnetta rounded up the tally. Although he did not score a goal in the meeting, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar provided crucial assists to his team’s opening and final goals. With this win, Jens Keller’s men are now out of the bottom seven.

Borussia Dortmund

Last season’s runners up are barely making half of their spectacular displays from the previous edition of Bundesliga. Dortmund may have won twice since the new season opened as well as still rank within the top half, but their overall performance has so far been disappointing—especially for title chasers who are capable of sending Goosebumps to their opponents but otherwise fail. Jürgen Klopp’s men already conceded nine goals in just five league appearances with a goal difference lower than zero. However, the Champions League is a different story for Die Borussen. They opened their new season UEFA campaign with a morale-boosting victory at Arsenal 2-0.

Sports betting tip: Schalke 04 will score a goal but Borussia Dortmund will eventually take all the spoils home.
