Nurnberg are spending a seventh consecutive week in the relegation zone, level on points with bottom occupants Braunschweig.  The Bavarian club’s 11th draw of the season left them in an insecure position, with only goal difference keeping Gertjan Verbeek’s men off the foot of the table. Thus far, the side are the only team in the league to not score a win since the season began. They are pinned at 11 draws and six defeats, with 17 goals scored and 33 conceded.

With all competitions considered, Nurnberg are not completely winless. In fact, they have been very successful in their last three matches―all in club friendlies. They trounced Steaua Bucureşti in a 5-1 home finish, slammed Luzern with a two-goal lead, and smashed Zurich via a clean sheet.

Inconsistency is a major loophole in Hoffenheim’s campaign for a successful Bundesliga. In their last three top-tier matches alone, the side obtained all three possible results: a win over Frankfurt, draw with Dortmund, and defeat from Braunschweig. They are currently in the 12th position, vaunting total points of 18 but shy of two goals to cancel out their negative goal difference.

While they may have a dull form in the German top-flight league, Markus Gisdol’s men have shown adeptness in club friendlies. They opened the year with a victory in an exhibition with OH Leuven 2-0, and backed it up with three more triumphs: against Bochum 0-1, 1860 Munchen 3-0, and Kasımpaşa 4-1.

Sports betting tip: Although they are five spots apart in the table, Nurnberg and Hoffenheim could finish their face-off in a draw.
