Bayern Munich are back to the table’s summit (since the last installment of the competition) while Cologne have dwindled into the ninth spot from being placed at number eight in the previous rankings. This face-off will determine who roars louder between these league champions (Bundesliga 1 and 2) from last season.

Winning only once in the German top-tier football since the season opened, Cologne are quite far from the club they were in 2 Bundesliga. However, they do not necessarily perform frustratingly ugly in their current league as they still rank within the top half of the table even while they have been goalless in four non-consecutive matches—including their most recent one which was their first defeat of the season (versus Hannover 96). In their earlier brawls, they were successful at holding Borussia M’gladbach, Paderborn, and Hamburg in a draw.

Although they were never out of the top five since day one of the new season, Bayern Munich only placed in the top spot after the first five weeks of the tournament were completed. The defending champions are indeed playing their game right as they have been unbeaten throughout the competition. Their recent victory against Paderborn gave them their best result of the season yet, scoring four goals while conceding zero. Mario Gotze figured prominently in the battle as he scored goals from both halves. Robert Lewandowski also netted a goal in the first period through Lahm’s assist while Thomas Muller delivered the match’s final goal.

Football betting tip: Bayern Munich will prove to be the better side (by a mile) than Cologne from this tourney.
