FC Bayern Muenchen v FC Schalke 04 - Bundesliga

Match Date: 19 October 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich

Bayern München

Bayern München won’t be placed atop the rankings last season for no reason. This term, the side are claiming back what is duly theirs. After being stuck in the second and third places from the season opener to seventh match day, Der FCB are now spotted at the table’s top. The climb, however, may not entirely be attributed to a supposedly massive performance in their most recent match. In fact, they only landed in a draw with Bayer Leverkusen. What propelled them to the top is Borussia Dortmund’s defeat (their first this season) in their latest combat, causing them to slide to the second spot and switch places with Pep Guardiola’s men. Regardless, Bayern München remain undefeated, and occupying the highest placement is apparently not an accident. Their victories in the Champions League (against Manchester City) and DFB Pokal (against Hannover 96) could readily substantiate this claim.

Mainz 05

Consistency is what Mainz 05 is lacking. Whilst debuting within the top six in the Bundesliga season opening—and even reaching the fourth spot in the following two match days— Die Nullfünfer have pushed themselves a little too much that they have lost control of their defense. The side have already conceded 11 goals in their last five Bundesliga matches, which would easily overpower their six goals scored. Current rankings place Thomas Tuchel’s lads at number 11, their second lowest position this season thus far. They dipped at number 12 in the seventh match week, pulled down by Hertha BSC’s 3-1 victory over the squad. If not for a 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim in their most recent fixture, Mainz would have definitely dwindled in the table even further.

Football betting tip: Bayern München are in the right position to make this match favor toward them. Mainz’s consistency dilemma would just give Der FCB the greater chance to bathe in an unbeaten streak. This tourney would ultimately conclude in a 3-1 home win by Bayern München.
