Match Date: 01 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: BayArena

Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen’s past five performances were more of a disaster than a windfall. Three of those matches ended painfully at the hands of Bundesliga clubs Frankfurt, Werder Bremen, and Freiburg. In club friendlies, the side had milder upshots, which include a draw with Young Boys and a victory at Fortuna Düsseldorf. The top-tier results, while still enabled them to place at the table’s second best spot, put the side to 13 points behind Bayern Munich and narrowed their gap to four points with third placers Borussia Dortmund.

Bayer’s was instrumental in their most recent opponents’ escape from the relegation zone. The three points Freiburg obtained from the fixture helped them place five spots above the table’s foot. Sami Hyypiä’s men’s declining performance will put them at smaller odds of attaining the leadership.

Stuttgart

Stuttgart would have been the first club to break Bayern Munchen’s perfect streak if they were able to deny Thiago Alcantara’s late goal. The fixture initially looked very much out of control for Bayern and it must have signaled as the end of their 42-game unbeaten Bundesliga record. Stuttgart’s Vedad Ibisevic opened the scoring and the side’s spree of chances made them a thrilling enemy for the league frontrunners. However, those chances were all wasted and their opponents began taking the control starting on the time substitute Claudio Pizarro smashed Bayern’s equalizer. And then, by stoppage time, Thiago’s determined effort earned the visitors all the spoils.

Stuttgart are currently in the table’s bottom half, at number 12. They have so far accumulated 19 points from 18 fixtures, scored 31 goals, and conceded 35.

Football betting tip: Leverkusen’s frustration to win their recent matches will propel a strong motivation to retaliate. Similarly, Stuttgart have the burning zeal to redeem themselves from the upset they incurred from Bayern Munchen. Expect this match to end in an attack-driven draw.
