Bayer Leverkusen finished the first week of Bundesliga fixtures atop of the league table jointly with 1899 Hoffenheim, thanks to a two-goal clean sheet against last season’s runners up Borussia Dortmund. The team’s excellent attack and defense ensured their fans of a great season kick-off. Karim Bellarabi opened the scoring very early with his first-minute goal via Sebastian-Boenisch. The tally was locked to 0-1 for the 90 minutes of the battle until Stefan Kiessling doubled the lead in extra time. Hertha Berlin, meanwhile, also scored twice in their season debut but their efforts were less productive as they let their rivals, Werder Bremen, net equal number of goals resulting in a stalemate. Julian Schieber produced a brace in the first-half to put Berlin in the lead, but Bremen’s Assani Lukimya and Franco Di Santo were able to equalize in the second period.

Football betting tip: Bayer Leverkusen will prove superior over Berlin from this tourney.

Wolfsburg vs. Eintracht Frankfurt

Match Date: 30 August 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Volkswagen Arena

It was a frustrating opening day for Wolfsburg in the new season of Bundesliga as they saw themselves fall under the sharp talons of the defending champions Bayern Munich. While they were able to score a goal in the second half of the meeting, The Wolves hardly equalized Munich’s double from Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben. It was a generally entertaining showpiece from both sides but unfortunately, Dieter Hecking’s men were ones who finished as underdogs. Frankfurt, by comparison, managed to score the only goal in their match against Freiburg. Haris Seferovic’s opener in the 15th minute was all The Eagles needed to claim all the three points from their debut fixture. This allowed them to rank within the top five of Bundesliga’s table for week one, positioned just below Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen, Munich, and Hannover 96 but above 13 other clubs.

Sports betting tip: Although Wolfsburg and Frankfurt produced contrasting results in their respective season openers, their almost-identical skills in creating chances, defending set pieces, and protecting the lead will render them equal in this meeting.
