Neither Augsburg nor Borussia Dortmund impressed in their respective season debuts as they finished the first week of Bundesliga fixtures at the bottom of the league table. The perennial German top-tier football front runners were a massive disappointment for their fans and the unexpected upsets—particularly for the latter—have stirred critics and garnered criticisms for their seemingly poor defense against their opponents. The teams surrendered all the spoils via clean sheets, which inevitably put them at the rankings’ most dreadful spots. Additionally, the squads had frequent individual errors and failed to finish scoring chances. There is, however, still room for improvements as the season has just kicked off.

Football betting tip: Augsburg and Borussia Dortmund will share the points.

Hamburger SV vs. Paderborn

Match Date: 30 August 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Imtech Arena

Hamburg managed to kick off their new season campaign with a narrow escape from embarrassment as they held Cologne in a goalless draw. However, the showpiece was not necessarily  a spectacle to behold, although the side showed superior skills in the defense and goalkeeping even if they failed to score a goal. Paderborn had a similar opener to their debut in the German top-flight competition. In fact, they were quite more impressive as they were able to find the net twice and hindered the more experienced Bundesliga side Mainz 05 from claiming all the marbles. It was an impressive start for a squad who have yet to muster enough experience in Germany’s most prestigious football league.

Sports betting tip: Hamburg and Paderborn will be rendered equal by the end of their meeting.
