A totally underrated squad, Reims was tagged as a top relegation contender in the 2013/2014 season.

With the least financial resources and without spectacular names to decorate the club, it is easy to dismiss that its promotion and survival during the 2012/2013 season was sheer luck.

However, its detractors will have to deal with shame as Reims clinched a stronger finish—much better than what they did after their promotion. Currently, the squad occupies the 11th spot of the Ligue 1 table—three (3) notches higher than before. What is even more impressive is the one-point difference that separates them from the 10th placer, Bastia. Reims had a better goal difference than the latter, but if their last two (2) matches ended in a victory, the squad could have penetrated the top ten (10).

Match to remember

After six (6) matches of thriving through stalemates and bowing down to Toulouse, Reims was already desperate for a win. But in order to do that, the squad must overcome the strength of sports betting favorite, Marseille. The match was set in October.

Reims took the lead, but a resilient Marseille has managed to make a great comeback. With only four (4) minutes left, the score was tied at 2-2. Yet a split second before the final whistle blew, Prince Oniangue netted the winning goal, which handed over the three (3) points to Reims.

Match to forget

Reims was fortunate enough to have settled in a safe spot in the table when they went against Ajaccio during their last match.

The relegated club stole the show from them when Ajaccio scored two (2) goals and they could only respond with one. Although there is nothing to worry about, as mentioned, it could have helped them enter the top ten (10) if they won the match.

The scene-stealers

Prince Oniangué readily stood out last season. He contributed ten (10) goals during his twenty-nine (29) appearances and even contributed two (2) assists.

Aside from Oniangué, it is evident that Grzegorz Krychowiak was also a certified stunner. The defensive midfielder made an exceptional effort in ensuring that the club is not easily thrashed in every match.

Latest Additions

So far, the only known transfer-related story in Reims’ camp is Grzegorz Krychowiak’s exit.
