Lens- Yoann Touzghar

Lens is the epitome of what hard work and determination can do. From the struggling squad that finished on the 12th spot of Ligue 2 in the 2012/2013 season, Lens catapulted to the 2nd spot and is promoted to Ligue 1.

However, Lens’ promotion is less likely to push through. According to reports, the squad’s financial troubles have been preventing them from playing into the top-fight league.

Lens’ President, Gervais Martel explained that a “late bank transfer” triggered the said problem. The fund was allegedly sent to a different bank and ultimately caused troubles with the IBAN. It was also unclear if the funds were really received. Moreover, it is reported that the receipts mentioned in the financial reports submitted were plain bank guarantees, but not cash transfer transactions.

Despite claims of remaining in Ligue 2, Lens is keen on filing an appeal to reconsider their case.
