FC Metz

Match Date: 16 August 2014 (local time)

Venue:  Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien

Both Nantes and Metz escaped a grueling ordeal during their first match to solidify their strong campaigns this season. The two (2) pulled off an equally deserve victory against their respective opponents, which refused to wave the white flag until they heard the final whistle.
Which team will emerge as the victorious squad after their nerve-wracking exploits last week?

The contenders

FC Metz

Metz proved why they are worthy to be promoted in the top-flight league when they held the title-contender, Lille into a scoreless draw.

It has been a while since Metz stepped into Ligue 1 and they are using every chance it has to avoid relegation. During their match against Lille, the latter readily dominated the encounter. Unfortunately, it looks like the prolific goalkeeper and team captain of Nigeria’s national squad, Vincent Enyeama, has finally found his match.

Metz’s Johan Carasso featured during the said clash, denying attempts from Divock Origi and Noulan Roux.

Due to the stalemate, Metz can only secure a single point from the said clash. But clearly, this problem is more pronounced in Lille’s camp than in the newly-promoted club’s side.

FC Nantes

Nantes also experienced scoring difficulties against another new face in Ligue 1, Lens.

It took more than a half-time before they finally scored, thanks to the clinical substitute, Yacine Bammou.

Prediction, scene-stealers and flops

Although both squads won, Metz’s successful stop to Lille’s unprecedented scoring rampage shows a stronger form than that of Nantes. The Canaries’ heart-stopping victory over a newly-promoted side, Lens, was more of a troubling concern, instead of a defining moment since the perceived Ligue 1 veteran was forced to struggle.

Carasso will definitely feature in the upcoming match, whilst many are expecting Alejandro Bedoya to step up.

What the odds say

Sports betting sites such as 12BET picks Metz as the match’s favorite, with odds valued at a profitable 2.06 with Asian handicap of 0 to 0.5.
