FC Lorient and OGC Nice capped off their first match with a stunning victory. Both clubs excelled in a close encounter that sent the crowd jumping off their seats.

Nice and Lorient will then meet in an attempt to continue their winning streak and climb further in Ligue 1’s table.

The contenders

FC Lorient

Lorient opened the season with a stunner against AS Monaco. Though dubbed as the match’s least favorite, Les Merlus pranced its clinical attacking and defensive departments to shock their opponents.

It did not take them long to score their first goal. Vincent Aboubakar converted a penalty on the 9th minute after Aymen Abdennour got an early booking.
The title contender, Monaco equalized when a fully recovered Radamel Falcao scored the match’s penalty.

With only twelve (12) minutes remaining, it was quite unlikely to see Monaco settle for an impending draw. However, Lorient has a different plan and with only three (3) minutes left before the match ended, Valentin Lavigne netted the winning goal that gave them 3 points.

OGC Nice

Nice was also among the scene-stealers during the opening week of the French league. A rampaging Dario Cvitanich gave the squad the lead on the 23rd. But Toulousse immediately responded. Goals coming from Martin Braithwaite and Wissam Ben Yedder put them at the forefront of victory.

However, Nice dominated the second half, with Cvitanich scoring the equalizer on the 62nd. Six (6) minutes after, Alexy Bosetti converted a hero goal to propel them to the top.

Prediction, scene-stealers and flops

Aboubakar’s scoring prowess readily compliments Benjamin Lecomte’s goal keeping efficiency. The two make a perfect combination that could further take the team to greater heights. Considering the fact that Lorient won over a heavy sports betting favorite, AS Monaco, the former gets the better chance of getting the upper hand against OGC Nice.

However, it is less likely for Nice to throw the white towel easily. Cvitanich will do everything to ensure that the match either ends in their favor or in a stalemate.

What the odds say

Lorient is valued to win at profitable odds of 1.91 whilst Nice gets 2.01.
