Sochaux and Evian are both struggling to escape the dreaded relegation. The sides are only one point apart, with the visitors having the narrow advantage over their hosts. However, Sochaux have shown more massive improvements in their past few matches than Evian did. In fact, they are unbeaten for the last seven weeks, but remain in the drop zone due to the large deficit they have to turn around from their earlier shortcomings. Evian, meanwhile, obtained their first victory in four attempts, clinching a clean sheet against Nice.

This finale fixture is highly crucial for both Sochaux and Evian. A win in this battle would mean berth in the next season of Ligue 1. A defeat, consequently, will result to an exit into the second-tier division.

Football betting tip: Sochaux will earn safety while Evian will bid goodbye to the French top-flight league.

St. Etienne vs. AC Ajaccio

Match Date:  17 May 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Geoffrey-Guichard

Saint Etienne’s seeding in the Europa League is sealed, but they still have the chance of participating in the Champions League playoffs as the side above them, Lille, are only two points ahead. But regardless of their final fixture’s result, Les Verts have proven to be a massive success this season. In fact, they have been unbeaten for eight straight weeks in Ligue 1 and they could still finish the season with a resounding win.

Ajaccio had a painfully appalling season. Needless to say, they have been relegated from the league a few weeks ago, courtesy of their poor form and very low score. That means to say that a victory at this particular stage of the tournament is already useless. Unless L’ours purpose of finishing the season with a win is only for consolatory reasons, they do not have enough motivation to earn a last-gasp triumph.

Sports betting tip: St. Etienne will largely dominate the scoring.
