Although Reims rank higher than Sochaux in the table, they actually have a much less productive recent streak than their visitors. The Hubert Fournier side only obtained three points from their last six meetings, from three draws and three defeats. Sochaux earned so much more, a total of 11 points from the same number of match weeks. Reims are gradually falling off their own summit while Sochaux are slowing ascending to free themselves from the drop zone.

Reims’ key component to remain afloat of the relegation zone is their ability to create and finish scoring chances. They also have good counter attacking skills. However, they largely falter in the defense, often losing the spoils to frail guarding of their lead and set pieces. Sochaux’s main hopes for survival, meanwhile, are their resilience and skillful execution of set piece attacks, aerial duels, and long shot opportunities.

Sports betting tip: Reims and Sochaux will be rendered even.

Valenciennes vs. Nantes

Match Date: 20 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade du Hainaut

As expected, Valenciennes lost all the spoils to Lille in their most recent battle. This meant that Les Athéniens would remain submerged in the depths of the relegation zone, barely floating above the abyss. They have been winless for the past five Ligue 1 matches and their chances at survival get slimmer and slimmer every passing week.

Nantes, by contrast, emerged to have the upper hand over their opponents in their last fixture. Les Canaris outclassed struggling Guingamp and took home the only goal scored in the brawl. The victory counts as their 11th this season, and it was substantial enough to earn vital points and remain within the safer spots of the league table.

Online betting tip: Nantes will battle out an easy challenge from Valenciennes.
