Bastia will not see Cioni, Squillaci, and Harek in their next meeting due to health concerns. Diarra is also absent in Ajaccio’s lineup for similar reason. These player deficits will just add up to the squads’ burgeoning problem on their form.

Bastia and Ajaccio have an almost identical results sheet for the last five Ligue 1 weeks. The home side thrived in a single match but experienced downfalls from Nice, Rennes, and Evian as well as earned a draw from Sochaux. Ajaccio also dominated in one fixture but fell off the winning bar with defeats from Guingamp and Marseille. They bagged stalemates from Touulouse and Bordeaux. Turchini are in the mid-table but their inconsistency will aggravate their hopes for a re-entry into the top half. Strugglers Ajaccio, meanwhile, remain stuck at the table’s foot although some good maneuvers from individual players are showing a few signs of life.

Online betting tip: Bastia will share the spoils with Ajaccio.

Lorient vs. Montpellier

Match Date: 20 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade du Moustoir

Lorient overtook Nice in the Ligue 1 rankings, thanks to a thrilling 2-1 win at the Allianz Riviera on weekend. The side embarked on this outing without a victory in their last four league matches and they successfully broke the monotony courtesy of Vincent Aboubakar’s goal in the fixture’s dying minutes. Les Merlus now stand on the table’s 10th spot.

Montpellier, meanwhile, incurred their fourth home defeat this season from their brawl against Marseille 2-3. Cabella and Sanson both fired equalizer for their opponents’ goals but a late rally from Payet ultimately decided the winner. This far, La Paillade have only won once in their last seven matches. They currently rank at number 15.

Football betting tip: Lorient could pull off triumph from this meeting against Montpellier.
