This match is rendering both sides in major player deficits. Valenciennes have five men sidelined (due to injuries) while Lyon have seven players on the benches (six for health reasons and one suspended). A thriller is still possible, though, as some of the key players are still in good shape to engage in the battle.

As per the last four meetings these sides faced off, Lyon are largely more dominant than Valenciennes. Current rankings also indicate wide disparities between the sides as they are 19 points apart. Les Athéniens may have some faculties to employ in the counter attack but those can be easily outclassed by Les Gones’ superb weaponry in free kicks, set pieces, and aerial duels.

Online betting tip: A clean sheet by Lyon will inflict thinner survival hopes for Valenciennes.

AS Monaco vs. Nantes

Match Date: 06 April 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Louis II

Monaco’s bid to regain the top spot was again put to a longer shot after they surprisingly succumbed to strugglers Evian TG 1-0. Cedric Mongongu’s 82nd-minute penalty proved decisive of the match’s outcome, which was awarded  to Evian after Ricardo Carvalho was penalized for handball. The defeat seemed very frustrating especially that Monaco just bagged a massive 6-0 home win over Lens in the Coupe de France. With 63 points under their belt, Claudio Ranieri’s men are still marooned in the second spot.

Nantes have had their past five meetings mostly end in draws and with zero goals. The mid-table club must strive harder in order for them to completely secure safety and reach the table’s top half. There is enough skills set to do some defensive tactics and steal the ball from the opposition, but Les Canaris are in dire need of serious refining particularly in finishing scoring chances and fighting in the air.

Football betting tip: Monaco will fight back by lording this tourney over.
