Saint-Etienne and Reims opened their Ligue 1 campaigns withy at least one point to start with. The home side are currently ranked third after they obtained a two-goal clean against Guingamp while the visitors successfully held defending champions PSG in a 2-2 draw.

AS Saint-Etienne

In spite of their unattractive performances in the pre-season friendlies—from which they incurred a goalless defeat from Gent and labored through a scoreless draw with Porto—Saint-Etienne still managed to make an impression in Ligue 1. He side netted twice against Guingamp and a very robust defense kept their opponents from converting any chances. The win was made possible by the powerful brace from Erdinc (39’ and 90’+2).

As usual, Les Verts proved monstrous in the air and their ability to create chances with ease will make them among the most dangerous squads this season. Not only can they create opportunities, but they can also finish them with utter grace. In the defense, they have little to worry about.

Stade de Reims

Reims may have only picked up one point from their opening match in the French top-flight tournament but the draw was nevertheless an important one. The side avoided an opening-week suffering after they held defending champions PSG in a 2-2 stalemate, preventing the latter from making another claim at the top spot. Reims displayed finesse and intelligence which made it hard for the Parisians to earn all the spoils. As expected, Ibrahimovic was PSG’s best bullet (who scored a brace in the battle) while Oniangue and Devaux served well for the Jean-Luc Vasseur side.

Football betting tip: Saint Etienne and Reims will make it hard for each other to find the net, causing this battle to end in a deadlock.
