Paris Saint-Germain delayed their claim for a sure grip of the championship after they were held in a draw by strugglers Sochaux 1-1. So much was at stake in the battle which propelled both sides to do their best to keep each other’s opponents at bay. The result was more crucial for Sochaux whose fate in the French top-tier football remains uncertain. PSG actually scored twice: an opener by Cavani and an own goal by Silva. If they win at least one of their impending fixtures, the overall victory is theirs.

Rennes narrowly managed to establish a place in Ligue 1 for next season after they only earned one point from their brawl against Lorient. The 1-1 draw was dominated by headers from Alain Traore and Paul-Georges Ntep and saw Les Rouges et Noirs slipped two places into the 15th spot. The draw would be their third consecutive non-losing streak in all competitions and their second in the French top-tier tournament.

PSG won three times in the sides’ past four face-offs, and Rennes dominated the remainder. The goal scoring mechanisms of visitors lie on the shadow of their host’s tremendous talents in the attack and defense. Les Rouge-et-Bleu barely lose sight of chances based on through balls or individual skills, succeeding at conversion that their rivals have little opportunity of destroying. Rennes do not come any closer to this set of skills. They may be good at counter attacks but they largely lack ample capacities to fight in the air, keep ball possession, or defend themselves against their nemeses’ powerful assaults.

Sports betting tip: PSG will lord Rennes over.
